A useful freight quotation request tells the provider what is moving, where it must go and what service you need. Sending a complete brief helps Tanzanian importers and regional buyers receive more comparable responses.
Cargo information
Provide the product description, number of packages, final packed dimensions and gross weight. Add photographs if the shape or handling needs are difficult to explain. Tell the provider about batteries, liquids, fragile goods or other relevant cargo characteristics instead of describing everything simply as general cargo.
Origin and final destination
Give the pickup point and the final delivery point, including the destination country and town. State whether pickup and delivery at premises are required. For a shipment through Dar es Salaam to another market, make the inland destination explicit.
Timing and service scope
State when the goods will actually be ready and your preferred delivery window. List the services you want quoted: transport, clearance support, storage or final delivery as applicable. Ask the provider to identify exclusions, estimate validity and any information needed before the price can be confirmed.
A simple enquiry format
Use these headings in your email: cargo; packed weight and dimensions; package count; origin; final destination; readiness date; delivery requirement; services requested; special handling; contact person. If a detail is unknown, label it as pending rather than giving a guess that could affect the booking.
Review the response
Check that the provider has used the correct route and cargo details. Ask for clarification on assumptions and third-party charges. Keep the accepted quotation with the shipment record so any later change can be discussed against the agreed scope.
